When it falls too low, becoming acidic, the condition is known as metabolic acidosis and is a very serious health problem. (1) This can be caused by a range of issues, including the kidneys or liver failing to detoxify the body properly, unregulated diabetes, and cancer.

Our body systems can become overloaded when we constantly consume a diet high in acid which disrupts our acid-alkaline balance. Because the body’s priority is homeostasis, it will “borrow” from other stores in order to regain balance.
