QUICK SUMMARY
This High Blood Sugar Body Oil is a DIY essential-oil blend for topical massage and aromatherapy as part of a natural blood-sugar wellness routine. Make it with Mama Z’s Essential Oil Base or another carrier oil, then follow the recipe and application guidance below. Research on selected essential oils suggests potential effects on glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity, mostly in animal studies. This topical blend itself has not been shown to lower blood sugar in humans.
Looking for a practical way to incorporate essential oils into your blood-sugar wellness routine? This DIY body oil is easy to make and use. We love pairing a simple massage ritual with prayer, nourishing meals, movement, and consistent glucose monitoring when needed.
The recipe is the main event here. You don’t need to study every metabolic pathway before you can prepare your blend!
If you want to understand the bigger picture, our comprehensive guide to essential oils for diabetes, insulin sensitivity, and blood sugar support covers individual oils, research, and the three routes of use: inhalation, topical application, and carefully formulated internal use. Here, we’re keeping the focus on this DIY recipe.

- Add in carrier oil and mix.
- Between blood sugar tests, massage over the abdomen and lower back twice a day for one month.
- Store in a glass jar or in a lotion dispenser.
Why Use a Carrier Oil?
Essential oils are highly concentrated. A carrier oil helps distribute them over the skin and reduces the chance of irritation compared with applying undiluted oils. It also makes the blend easier to massage into your abdomen or lower back without using more essential oil than the recipe calls for.
Mama Z’s Essential Oil Base is one option, but the recipe also works with a carrier oil you already enjoy. Follow the formula as written rather than increasing the number of drops to make the blend feel stronger.
How to Use the Body Oil
Massage a small amount of the finished blend over the abdomen, lower back, or another area of intact skin, following the recipe directions. Make it part of a peaceful morning or evening routine, perhaps while taking a few slow breaths or spending time in prayer.
Important: This topical recipe is for massage and aromatherapy, not a proven glucose-lowering treatment. Continue prescribed medication and blood-sugar monitoring as directed. Never apply the oil to diabetic wounds, broken skin, injection sites, beneath glucose sensors, or near insulin-pump adhesive. If you have neuropathy, poor circulation, or reduced skin sensation, ask your clinician before using a new topical blend.
Patch test before wider application, and stop if irritation occurs. Some concentrated essential oils can be irritating even when diluted. Do not alter the essential-oil amounts in the recipe or take this topical blend internally.
If you use insulin or glucose-lowering medication, keep following your established treatment plan. How you feel after a massage is not a substitute for a blood-glucose reading. If your readings are persistently high or you feel unwell, contact your diabetes care team.
Store the finished blend tightly closed, away from heat and direct sunlight, and keep it out of reach of children and pets. If its scent or appearance changes noticeably, discard it.
Why We Love Essential-Oil Blends
One of the most intriguing things about essential oils is the possibility of synergy: plant compounds working together rather than acting alone.
Teamwork makes the dream work, right?
A Georgetown University animal study investigated internally administered blends containing aromatic ingredients such as oregano, cinnamon, fenugreek, cumin, fennel, myrtle, allspice, and ginger. Researchers reported improved glucose-related measures in rats. That is interesting early research, but it does not establish that this topical body oil lowers glucose in people. (1)
What About Insulin Sensitivity and Natural GLP-1 Support?
Insulin sensitivity describes how well your cells respond to insulin and take up glucose from the bloodstream. GLP-1 is a hormone your intestines release in response to food; it helps coordinate insulin secretion and appetite signaling. Both are important parts of metabolic health, but they are not the same process.
Our primary essential oils for diabetes guide explores the research on glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity, as well as essential oils in the context of GLP-1 medications and appetite support. That is the right place for the detailed discussion.
One distinction is worth keeping clear: the available research does not establish that applying this DIY body oil stimulates your body’s own GLP-1 production. Supporting natural GLP-1 signaling through balanced, fiber-rich meals, sufficient protein, regular activity, and overall metabolic health is a separate goal from enjoying a topical essential-oil blend.
How Does This Fit Into a Daily Routine?
I like to connect a new wellness habit to something I’m already doing. Use the blend after a shower or during an evening wind-down, take a few slow breaths, and use that moment to think about the next healthy choice: a walk after dinner, a good night’s sleep, or a nourishing meal tomorrow.
It’s a small act of stewardship. The body oil doesn’t need to do everything to have a place in your routine.
A Simple Addition to Your Wellness Routine
A DIY body oil cannot replace the foundations of healthy blood sugar: real food, movement, restorative sleep, stress support, and appropriate treatment. But it can be a welcome reminder to slow down and care for yourself.
God has given us powerful plants and the wisdom to use them responsibly. Honor both gifts as you pursue healing and the abundant life.
