Organic Gardening with Mama Z - FREE Screening

I recently shared our homemade sunscreen cream recipe, but I wanted to share another favorite for those that love to be able to spritz themselves while at the pool or beach. We love using Aloe Vera in our home so this Homemade Sunscreen Spray was an easy one to put together. Remember when using this all natural aloe, you need to keep it refrigerated upon opening.

Don’t forget to store your Homemade Sunscreen Spray in your refrigerator at home and when headed to the beach, toss it in the cooler!

Note, be cautious of using this recipe if you have fair skin. You’ll need to use a more heavy-duty sunscreen bar that has zinc oxide in it.

No matter what allergies you may have, there’s a carrier oil that’s right for you. You can use any, or a combination of these: Avocado, Fractionated Coconut, Grapeseed, Jojoba, Sweet Almond.

These are great essential oils to include in your DIY sunscreen and they promote skin healing:
*Tea Tree

Be sure to NOT include any citrus essential oils in your homemade sunscreen. Citrus oils are photosensitizing and will cause sunburn. See our free, complete guide about essential oil photosensitivity to avoid problems!

A Note About DIY Suncreen: Before using any DIY sunscreen recipes for your and your family’s protection, you need to be aware of the limits of these home formulations. The kind of sunscreen you find on store shelves is made with specialized equipment that ensures the even distribution of the ingredients that protect you from the sun’s rays. Unfortunately, they also many times contain toxic ingredients, which is why we want to offer an alternative. But these alternatives are not guaranteed to offer the same kind of protection or any specific SPF that would be expected of professionally formulated sun-protection products. These recipes are meant for your personal use only after your personal consideration of the risks and benefits they may pose.
