QUICK SUMMARY
Truly Free Marketplace is a Christian-owned online shopping destination offering non-toxic household products, personal care essentials, food, and other everyday products from brands selected for ingredient transparency, quality, and trust.
We’ve used Truly Free products for nearly 10 years, personally know founder Stephen Ezell and his family, and toured their manufacturing headquarters in Northern Michigan. These aren’t strangers selling us another “natural” product. They’re friends we’ve prayed with, celebrated Thanksgiving with, and watched build something special.
But here’s what makes Truly Free Marketplace different for us: Stephen is using his business to support organizations working to protect vulnerable children, confront online predators, and help trafficking survivors rebuild their lives.

Every purchase is a vote.
You’ve probably heard that before, but have you ever stopped to consider what your money is actually supporting? We have a love-hate relationship with Amazon because, while it’s incredibly convenient for our family of nine, we’re increasingly uncomfortable with corporations funding organizations and agendas that don’t align with our Biblical values.
So what do you do when you want the convenience of Amazon without compromising your convictions? You start praying for a non-toxic, Christian-owned alternative!
And then a friend you’ve known for nearly a decade starts building something that looks a whole lot like the answer to that prayer.
His name is Stephen Ezell, and what he’s doing with Truly Free Marketplace is about something much bigger than selling soap. At a retreat in Franklin, Tennessee, Stephen shared how his company supports organizations fighting child exploitation and helping trafficking survivors recover, and as parents of seven children, what he told us hit home.
Because once you hear what’s happening to vulnerable children, you can’t un-hear it. You start asking uncomfortable questions about what you’re doing to help and whether the money you’re already spending to care for your family could help protect someone else’s.

Somewhere Tonight, a Child Needs Someone to Fight for Them
Every laundry jug that ships out of the Truly Free warehouse in Northern Michigan represents a lot more than clean clothes. Our friend Stephen Ezell told us it represents a home free of toxic chemicals, but then he said something even bigger: it represents FREEDOM.
At a retreat in Franklin, Tennessee, Stephen shared how Truly Free puts what he calls “conscious capital” toward organizations working to protect vulnerable women and children. We want you to know about two of them because their missions deserve attention.
Pred Task Force works to identify online predators through undercover investigations and bring information to law enforcement. Kaleb House helps families affected by trafficking and abuse through recovery support, advocacy, counseling, and restoration.
One goes after the predators, while the other walks alongside people whose lives have been devastated by exploitation. Both are doing work most of us will never see up close, and both need people willing to stand behind them.
Think about that for a moment. Somewhere tonight, a child is being exploited, a parent is desperately praying for their son or daughter, and a family is trying to rebuild after experiencing something no parent should ever have to face.
And what are we supposed to do as Christians? Look the other way, pretend it isn’t happening, or assume somebody else will handle it?
We don’t think so.
Jesus was not vague about His concern for the oppressed. When He stood up in the synagogue in Nazareth, He opened the scroll of Isaiah and declared:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.” Luke 4:18
Liberty to the captives is the heart of God.
Jesus came to accomplish something infinitely greater than anything a business or charitable organization could ever accomplish. But if we’re following Him, shouldn’t His compassion for the vulnerable shape how we live?
Scripture says:
“Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” Psalm 82:3-4
Most of us will never participate in an undercover investigation or sit across from a trafficking survivor in a counseling room. But all of us make decisions about where our money goes, and sometimes those ordinary decisions can help support people doing extraordinary work.
That’s what got our attention about Truly Free. It wasn’t simply another fragrance-free detergent or green cleaning product. It was a business owner who wants his company’s success to help people experience freedom.
And that is something we can get behind!

Where Your Treasure Is, There Your Heart Will Be
Can we talk about Amazon for a minute? We have a love-hate relationship with it because, on one hand, most of the products we use are available there, and with seven kids, believe us, we understand the blessing of convenience!
On the other hand, we’re increasingly uncomfortable with the corporations our money supports and the causes some of them fund. Are you tired of watching your hard-earned money support companies whose priorities don’t reflect your Biblical convictions?
We are, too!
And we’re not suggesting that every company we disagree with is evil or that every purchase needs to become some exhausting moral investigation. But shouldn’t Christians at least be asking questions about where their money goes?
Jesus said:
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21
Read that again and pay attention to the order. Jesus didn’t say where your heart is, there your treasure will be. He said where your TREASURE is, there your HEART will be.
He was teaching about our relationship with money, possessions, and what we value most. And that should make every one of us uncomfortable enough to examine our habits.
We can say we care about protecting children, honoring God with our health, and supporting companies that operate with integrity. But what do our spending habits reveal?
That’s the question, and we’re asking ourselves the same thing. We aren’t perfect, we still order things from Amazon, and we’re not pretending otherwise.
But we believe there’s something worth considering here.
Every purchase is a small vote for the kind of world we want our children and grandchildren to inherit.
Every dollar supports a business model, a company, and the people behind it. When we discover companies whose products and missions align with what matters to us, why wouldn’t we want to support them?
For us, that’s where Truly Free Marketplace comes in. It’s one more opportunity to put our money behind something we believe in, and that leads us to the relationship that makes this whole story so personal.
We Know the Family Behind Truly Free
This is not another company we stumbled across on a Tuesday afternoon. We didn’t receive some random email from an affiliate manager, get excited about a commission check, and decide to promote their products.
We KNOW this family.
We’ve known Stephen and his family for years. Our kids have played together, we’ve prayed together, we’ve celebrated Thanksgiving together, and we’ve done life together.
We’ve also used their products for nearly 10 years, going all the way back to when the company was called My Green Fills. In fact, we were among their earliest brand ambassadors, so when Stephen invited us to tour their Northern Michigan manufacturing operation, we jumped at the chance.
And what a tour!
There’s a massive machine they affectionately call Big Bertha, and she makes a LOT of soap! There’s also a powder room where their laundry refills and powdered cleaning products are manufactured, plus production lines filling everything from everyday household cleaner to bathroom cleaner.
Somebody compared the place to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. Except instead of chocolate, they’re making soap!
One of our favorite moments came when Stephen explained his philosophy about business success:
“Most entrepreneurs, when they quote unquote made it, they buy Ferraris and Lambos. Well, I buy equipment to make more soap.”
We LOVE that because here’s a man who’s reinvesting in his company instead of focusing on the next expensive toy. He’s building something that benefits more families, creates jobs, and gives his business an opportunity to support causes he believes in.
During our visit, another statement stood out:
“Safety is the priority. Quality is the standard.”
That’s exactly the mentality we want behind products coming into our home. Not pretty packaging hiding questionable ingredients, misleading “natural” labels, or another company making big promises without showing us what’s actually inside the bottle.
We want transparency, quality, and products that work. And we want to know who’s behind them.
After spending more than two decades studying natural health and teaching families how to make informed decisions, we’ve become pretty particular about what we recommend. Not because we’re trying to be difficult, but because we’ve seen how confusing the natural products marketplace has become.
When you find a family you know, products you’ve used for nearly a decade, and a company trying to make a difference beyond its bottom line, that means something.
But there was another moment during the tour that we believe every family needs to hear about.
The One Change That Makes the Biggest Difference
While we were walking through the warehouse, Stephen asked Dr. Z a question we get all the time. With all the confusion about diet, wellness, biohacking, supplements, and environmental toxins, what’s the ONE thing families should focus on?
His answer was simple: BREAK UP WITH SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES!
Seriously, think about how much artificial fragrance surrounds the average family every day. From laundry detergents and dryer sheets to plug-ins, cleaning sprays, personal care products, and scented candles, it’s practically everywhere.
And a lot of families have no idea what’s in the fragrance mixtures they’re bringing into their homes. The word “fragrance” can represent numerous ingredients, and manufacturers don’t always disclose every individual component on consumer labels.
Certain fragrance ingredients and emissions can contribute to unwanted chemical exposures, irritation, and symptoms in sensitive people. Now consider how many fragranced products your family might use throughout a normal day.
One in the laundry room, another in the bathroom, another in your bedroom, and still another in the cleaning supplies. Before you know it, you’ve surrounded yourself with fragrance mixtures you may know very little about.
WHY?
Because we’ve been conditioned to associate synthetic fragrance with cleanliness! Your laundry isn’t clean unless it smells like a perfume factory, your bathroom isn’t fresh unless a plug-in is pumping fragrance into the air, and your home isn’t welcoming unless a scented candle is burning.
Says who?
Clean doesn’t have to smell like chemicals!
That’s why removing synthetic fragrances has been one of our Three Non-Negotiables for years. During the warehouse tour, Dr. Z explained how our bodies are constantly processing substances from the food we eat, the water we drink, the air we breathe, and the products we use.
We can’t control everything in our environment, but there’s a LOT we can control. When we start making changes throughout our homes, one product at a time, we can reduce unnecessary exposures.
That’s why having a trusted company matters so much. Once you find cleaning products that work for your family, you can stop obsessing over that category and focus on something else, whether that’s food, water, personal care, or indoor air.
And as Dr. Z said during the tour, that peace of mind is GOLD.
That’s one reason we’ve continued using Truly Free products for nearly a decade.
DISCOVER THE NEW “NON-TOXIC AMAZON”!
Imagine a Christian-owned version of Amazon that makes sure the products are transparent, honest and healthy…
What Is Truly Free Marketplace?
So what exactly is Truly Free Marketplace, and why are we calling it the “non-toxic Amazon”?
Think about what happens when you try to shop for healthier household products. You search for non-toxic laundry detergent, start reading ingredient labels, and realize half the products advertised as “natural” contain ingredients you were trying to avoid in the first place.
Then you start looking at reviews and wondering whether they’re even legitimate. Before you know it, you’ve spent an hour researching LAUNDRY SOAP!
Sound familiar?
We’ve been teaching families how to navigate this mess since 2014. And we’ve watched the natural products marketplace become increasingly crowded with greenwashing, confusing labels, questionable marketing claims, and products that aren’t nearly as clean as their packaging suggests.
That’s the problem Truly Free Marketplace is trying to solve.
Truly Free Marketplace is an online store offering curated household, personal care, food, and other everyday products from brands selected around cleaner ingredients, quality, and transparency.
Think of it as a more selective alternative to the endless options available on Amazon. Instead of spending hours sorting through products, you can explore a marketplace that’s already doing some of that screening.
Its product categories include:
- Non-toxic household cleaning products
- Baby essentials
- Snacks, chips, and coffee
- Pet care products
- Beauty and personal care
- Gifts and everyday household essentials
And more!
Of course, no marketplace is perfect, and just because a brand says “non-toxic” doesn’t mean we’re going to stop reading labels or asking questions. We don’t give ANY company a free pass, not even companies run by dear friends.
Scripture says:
“But test everything; hold fast what is good.” 1 Thessalonians 5:21
That’s Biblical discernment, and it applies to every purchase we make. But when a marketplace is intentionally built around ingredient transparency, quality, and trust, that can make shopping for healthier products a whole lot easier.
And that’s something we’re grateful for.
Is Truly Free Marketplace Membership Really Free?
Here’s another reason we’re excited. During their introductory launch offer, Truly Free Marketplace is providing:

You don’t need to become a distributor, build a team, or pressure your family and friends. You can simply shop for the products your family needs.
Imagine that!
And with the current introductory offer, you can start exploring the marketplace without paying for a membership.

How Is Truly Free Marketplace Different From Amazon?
Here’s the difference as we see it. Amazon is designed to sell you practically anything, while Truly Free Marketplace is trying to help you find products from brands that prioritize cleaner ingredients, transparency, and trust.
Now, don’t misunderstand us. We’re not saying every product on Amazon is bad, and we’ve recommended plenty of products sold there over the years.
We’re also not saying every product in Truly Free Marketplace will be perfect for every family. But there’s a meaningful difference between a massive marketplace and one that’s intentionally curating brands around a particular set of standards.
And then there’s something even bigger.
Stephen isn’t simply trying to sell more soap. He’s trying to build a business that makes a difference in people’s lives, which brings us back to that idea of conscious capital.
It’s about using the resources generated by a successful company to support meaningful causes. When those causes include protecting children and helping trafficking survivors rebuild their lives, we’re paying attention.
Does buying a bottle of laundry detergent directly rescue a child? Of course not, but when a company uses some of its resources to support organizations doing that work, the purchases helping sustain that company can contribute to something bigger.
And that’s a beautiful thing.
It’s also something we’d love to see MORE Christian entrepreneurs embrace. Imagine what could happen if more business owners started asking not just how much money they could make, but how much good they could do with what God has entrusted to them.
Imagine businesses that genuinely cared about the families using their products, invested in quality instead of cutting every possible corner, and supported the vulnerable instead of treating charitable giving as another public relations campaign.
Now imagine Christian families deliberately supporting those businesses.
That’s the kind of marketplace we’d love to help build.

Your Money Is a Stewardship Decision
Here’s what we keep coming back to. God has entrusted every one of us with resources, and while some have more and some have less, all of us make decisions about what we’re going to do with what He’s given us.
And we believe those decisions matter.
We talk a lot about stewarding our health, marriages, children, and homes. But what about our money, the companies we’re helping succeed, and the example we’re setting for our kids?
Our children are watching, and they’re learning what we value by watching what we do, not just listening to what we say. That’s one reason we’re so passionate about helping Christian families LIVE OUT their faith in practical ways.
Not simply reading the Bible or attending church, but applying God’s Word to the decisions we make every day.
Following Jesus should change EVERYTHING.
How we love people, care for our bodies, manage our homes, conduct business, and spend our money. That’s not legalism. That’s discipleship.
And it’s why we believe something as ordinary as shopping for laundry soap can become an opportunity to support a mission bigger than ourselves.
Scripture tells us:
“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1
Paul was talking about the freedom Christ purchased for us, not consumer choices. But there’s something beautiful about seeing people who have experienced that freedom dedicating their lives and businesses to helping others.
That’s what we see in Stephen and his team. Not a perfect company or a company that can save the world, but real people trying to make a meaningful difference with what God has entrusted to them.
And we’re grateful to know them.
So here’s our invitation.
If you’re looking for a simpler way to find non-toxic household products, take a look at Truly Free Marketplace. If you’ve been wanting to support businesses that care about more than their bottom line, we’d love for you to see what they’re building.
And if the idea of your everyday purchases helping sustain a company that supports vulnerable women and children resonates with you, we’d love for you to join us.
Because every purchase is a vote.
And we’d rather cast ours for something we believe in.

A Prayer for You
Father God,
Thank You that You see every child the world has forgotten and that not one of them is hidden from Your eyes. We pray for every woman and child suffering exploitation, abuse, and trafficking tonight.
Lord, expose the darkness, protect the vulnerable, bring captives into freedom, and surround survivors and their families with the protection, healing, and support they desperately need.
Give wisdom and courage to the men and women working to confront predators and care for those who have been harmed. Strengthen the organizations providing refuge, counseling, and restoration.
And Father, teach us to be faithful stewards of everything You’ve entrusted to us. Show us where our money is going, what our habits are supporting, and where we need to make changes.
Give us discernment without fear, conviction without pride, and generosity without hesitation. May our homes reflect Your goodness, our decisions reflect Your wisdom, and our lives point people toward the freedom found in Jesus Christ.
Amen.
