My Superfood Breakfast Smoothies start your day with a boost of delicious, bioactive ingredients. The Bioactive Breakfast Shake uses not just one but two super powders to give your body everything it needs to thrive.

These smoothies are life-savers on busy mornings. Try one of our variations to keep things fresh and exciting! Simply place all ingredients in your Vitamix, blend, and voila! A healthy meal on the go.

Smoothie Ingredients 101

While these breakfast smoothies differ in some ingredients, they share a few common components. Here’s why we chose each element.

Purified or Distilled Water: Traditional tap water is linked to congenital disabilities, diabetes, and obesity. There are many great home-filtration systems that make purifying water a breeze! We recommend using purified or distilled water whenever possible.

Super Greens Powder: This amazing super greens powder contains cancer-fighting ingredients. It’s easy to put together and is a fantastic addition to any smoothie.

A few stand-out elements include:

Super Reds Powder: Another wonderful creation that will significantly improve your health!

This gorgeous powder contains excellent ingredients, including:

If you decide these super powders aren’t for you, you can substitute them with Living Fuel’s SuperGreens and/or SuperBerry instead.

Brown Rice Protein Powder: To keep this recipe dairy-free, we forgo whey protein powder in favor of a brown rice variety. I love using this protein powder because it dissolves quickly and doesn’t have an odd aftertaste. Nutritionally, it’s comparable to more traditional protein powders.

If you’ve found that dairy-based protein powders irritate your stomach, I encourage you to try this kind! It’s gentle on your stomach and gives your body the protein it needs to stay healthy. Alternatively, you could use hemp protein powder.

Banana: Bananas are the ultimate smoothie ingredient. They add an extra dose of sweetness, making the mixture as smooth as ice cream. If you have hungry kiddos, bananas are a must as they’re inexpensive and filling.

Bananas can improve your gut health by feeding healthy bacteria (7). When your gut is healthy, it affects the rest of your body! We love using frozen bananas for a frosty twist!

Berries: Berries add bright color to the smoothie and make the other flavors pop! We love using frozen raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, pitted cherries, or other dark berries.

Berries are low in calories but high in antioxidants! In a world where free radicals run rampant, it’s essential to consume foods that defend our bodies.

Unsweetened Vanilla-Flavored Almond/Coconut Milk: We use almond or coconut milk instead of conventional milk. These beverages taste amazing! Plus, you’re avoiding the hormones that leech into dairy.

When purchasing non-dairy milk, be sure to get the unsweetened kind. Yes, even “healthy” milk can contain sugar and other fillers!

4 Additional Superfood Shakes

Safety Note: Some of these variations include essential oils. It is safe to use essential oils in your culinary endeavors, but you need to use wisdom. When including an EO, you also need to have a dispersant, such as coconut oil.

Without them, your mouth would get irritated. Enjoy these recipes, but always remember; you never want to ingest an essential oil neat!

Tropical Delight Smoothie

Need a beach vacation? Transport yourself to sunny skies with this delicious smoothie!

Step One: Add Essential Oils to the Smoothie Base

To make this recipe, follow the main instructions, but substitute ¼ cup frozen pineapple for the berries. Add 1 drop of lime, grapefruit, or lemon essential oil to 1 teaspoon of melted coconut oil. Mix well before blending with the other ingredients.

Top with shredded coconut and enjoy!

Mean Green Cruciferous Smoothie

There’s nothing better than cruciferous veggies. These vegetables are all part of the cabbage family and contain cancer-fighting compounds.

Step One: Add Kale and Spinach to the Smoothie Base

Follow the main recipe, add ½ cup chopped kale and ½ cup chopped spinach to the smoothie base. Blend until no green flecks remain.

Pumpkin Spice Breakfast Smoothie

This smoothie contains Fall-inspired flavors, but let’s be honest… it’s great all year round!

Step One: Add Pumpkin Puree to the Smoothie Base

Follow the main recipe, but instead of frozen berries, use ¼ cup pumpkin puree. You should note that this is NOT the same thing as pumpkin pie filling that contains sugar and other fillers. Use a frozen banana and add ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice.

For our international friends: Pumpkin pie spice is a seasoning blend that consists of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves. You can find it at many well-stocked grocery stores. If not, we have an easy recipe you can follow.
