Vegan Matcha Latte: An Antioxidant-Rich Metabolism Boost

Our recipe for this gorgeous metabolism-boosting vegan matcha latte using Pique’s Matcha provides many health benefits and tastes great! It provides an energy boost without the jitters and crashes. It contains antioxidants like EGCG, helps support weight management and healthy metabolism, and even acts as a natural immune booster. These are just a few of the amazing benefits this vegan matcha has to offer; I cannot imagine why anyone wouldn’t want to drink it!

What is Matcha?

Drinking a daily cup of tea will surely starve the apothecary.

~ Chinese Proverb

Matcha is made from whole leaves that have been finely ground, which means you are ingesting the entire leaf. So the flavor of matcha green tea is much stronger than your standard steeped cup of green tea. This also means you’re getting more amazing health benefits! Matcha is loaded with health-promoting compounds like catechin antioxidants, l-theanine, and vitamins.

The antioxidant epigallocatechin gallate, more commonly known as ECGC, helps boost metabolism, making it more likely that you’ll tone up and slim down, especially if you are also exercising and eating a healthy diet at the same time. Note that these benefits accrue to the green tea itself, not the green tea flavor, so be sure to avoid sugary green tea snacks and anything made with extract or fake flavoring.

The l-theanine present in matcha helps to calm your nervous system, so you still get the energy boost but with less of the jitters or shakiness that people commonly associate with drinking lots of caffeine.

3 Reasons to Try Matcha Green Tea

People have found that they can lose weight with matcha green tea by drinking just one cup a day! Especially when they add a drop (or two) of hunger-curbing and blood sugar-balancing essential oils like peppermint and cinnamon!

Here are three key reasons to try matcha and make a vegan morning latte:

1. It Boosts Your Amino Acid Intake

We all need more antioxidants in our diet, and this tea is a delicious way to incorporate them into your life! Matcha comes from the Camellia Sinensis plant. Compared to other tea plants, the Camellia Sinensis is under heavy shade. The growing process is done to increase the amino acids in the tea. (1)

Amino acids are essential, and this tea is a delicious way to incorporate them into your life. Amino acids play a significant role in exercise performance and weight loss.

2. It Can Help You Get Lean

Matcha comes from the same plant as green tea extract, which can speed up metabolism. Matcha powder creates a thick liquid, so it helps you feel full!
Bonus: The essential oils we use in this recipe are also great for weight loss support.

3. It Can Clear Your Head

After I drink a cup of matcha, I feel so much mental clarity. It gives me that boost I need without any jitters. Matcha drinkers refer to the feeling matcha gives them as a “calm alertness.” From time to time, everyone needs a way to elevate energy. It’s essential to turn to clean drinks instead of harmful energy drinks and sugar-laden sodas. Your body will thank you in the long run!

Energizing Vegan Matcha Latte Ingredients

Ingredients for Vegan Matcha Latte: An Antioxidant-Rich Metabolism Boost

When you hear the word “latte,” you might think of fancy machines or at least some latte art. The truth is, you don’t need any of those things to make a fantastic vegan latte. This vegan is mixed using a blender! Besides a blender, you need matcha green tea powder, an unsweetened almond milk beverage or creamer, vanilla or coconut-flavored liquid stevia, and a couple of yummy essential oils.

Here’s what each one does for you.

Pique’s Matcha Powder: We went over a few matcha benefits already, but here’s one more: If you’re an athlete, matcha will appeal to you because it can help build strength (2) and restore your body after an intense workout. Be mindful when buying your matcha. It’s important to get a high-quality brand of matcha green tea. I gravitate towards Pique’s matcha because I’ve found it to be the highest quality matcha on the market. It’s 100% organic, ceremonial-grade, and Quadruple Toxin-Screened for pesticides, heavy metals, toxic mold, and radioactive isotopes.

Organic Unsweetened Almond or Coconut Milk Beverage: This keeps our drink dairy-free and creams it up beautifully. This type of beverage is usually labeled “creamer” at the grocery store. I prefer a blend that uses half coconut milk and half almond milk. You’ll want to purchase the unsweetened variety so you aren’t ingesting any hidden sugars!

Purified or Distilled Water: I recommend using purified or distilled water in our drink recipes. Regular tap water can contain harmful toxins that can set you back in your health journey rather than ahead. Purchasing a water filter can greatly benefit your health and give your body the energy it needs to live the abundant life.

Liquid Stevia: Liquid stevia blends great in beverages. It’s a great way to sweeten a drink without raising your blood sugar. I love how many different flavors of stevia there are! In this recipe, vanilla or coconut stevia tastes divine.

Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil: Cinnamon bark essential oil is rich in antioxidants. It complements the flavor of matcha so well! Cinnamon bark oil is from, you guessed it, the bark of a Cinnamomum tree. It contains many more antidiabetic properties than its cousin, cinnamon leaf oil. This oil is excellent for gut health!

Peppermint Essential Oil: Peppermint oil isn’t just for the holidays. You can use this oil all year round to help promote proper digestion. The smell of peppermint can help you feel full faster, and this oil is a great pick-me-up!

Organic Ceylon Cinnamon: Why Ceylon cinnamon? Ceylon cinnamon is rarer than your everyday cinnamon. Its flavor isn’t as spicy as regular cinnamon, giving drinks a bit of sweetness. Cinnamon helps balance your blood sugar levels (3), and when your blood sugar levels are stable, your whole body can function better.

Safety Note about Essential Oils

Oils and water don’t mix, so use wisdom when ingesting them! This recipe combines the oils with a natural sweetener, which acts as a dispersant. Adding stevia prevents you from irritating your mouth. Enjoy this recipe, but remember, you should never just drop an EO in water and take a gulp!

Metabolism-Boosting Vegan Matcha Latte Recipe

My family likes to drink many hot drinks, so I keep an electric glass kettle full of hot water on our counter. Having hot water at the ready makes crafting vegan matcha lattes so easy! This recipe serves two, so you can share it with a friend.
