Salt Dough Ornament Recipe

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Combine flour and salt. Knead in water till well mixed and not sticky.
  • Roll out to ¼” and cut with your favorite cookie cutters.
  • Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and poke holes with a straw.
  • Bake at 250 degrees for 2-3 hours. Or let dry on a sheet for a couple of days.
  • You can paint with acrylic paints if you like, but we like to hang them plainly, scented with a few drops of peppermint essential oil!

Notes

*Here are a few ideas for Christmas-inspired essential oil blends. We recommend reusing old 5-ml bottles, putting them through the dishwasher once or twice, and making the blends ahead of time!
*Feel free to substitute the essential oils listed with one of these great blends. And put the blends on the next recipe card.
  • By the Fire – 3 drops cardamom, 1 drop each orange, cinnamon, clove
  • Carol in the Woods – 2 drops sandalwood, 1 drop cedarwood, 1 drop cypress, 1 drop myrrh
  • Grandma’s Cookies – 3 drops ginger, 2 drops clove, 1 drop cinnamon
  • Kingly Gifts – 3 drops frankincense, 2 drops myrrh, 1 drop sage
  • Let it Snow! – 3 drops eucalyptus, 2 drops juniper berry, 1 drop sage
  • Oh, Christmas Tree! – 3 drops Douglas or white fir, 2 drops cedarwood, 1 drop of juniper berry
