Perineum Massage Oil and Gentle Vaginal Lubricant

Author: Mama Z

Supplies

Ingredients

  • 2 drops geranium essential oil
  • 1 drop clary sage essential oil
  • 1 drop Cypress essential oil (optional)
  • 1 drop German chamomile (Blue) essential oil
  • 1 drop jasmine essential oil
  • 1 drop lavender essential oil
  • 1 drop Roman chamomile essential oil
  • 1 ounce organic jojoba oil OR evening primrose oil

Instructions

  • Mix all the essential oils in your chosen glass bottle and top it off with your preferred carrier oil. Use with vinyl gloves as a perineum massage oil or gentle vaginal lubricant. I start using this perineum massage oil at 36 weeks of pregnancy to prepare for birth and reduce healing time postpartum, starting at 4 weeks postpartum. I usually double or quadruple this recipe.

Notes

I also love using this massage oil on my hot compresses during labor and delivery. I fill a crockpot with folded and rolled washcloths. Then I pour a 2-ounce bottle of this mixture evenly over it and fill with boiling water, then turn the dial to warm. Then it’s ready for the pushing phase, or just before labor. This helps ease the baby out, and the heat also helps drive contractions when you are ready and on top of them. I prefer using organic jojoba oil as the carrier for the compresses. When preparing for birth, I prefer organic evening primrose oil because it is a thicker oil with higher viscosity. If you have a tendency to get hemorrhoids during pregnancy, birth, or delivery, this massage oil can be great as a preventive therapy and help reduce the chance of them and/or help them heal faster.
This essential oil blend is the combination I’ve found that works best. You can experiment with your favorite pregnancy, female, or labor blend, if desired. You can also adjust the quantity of this massage oil; just remember to use 8 drops of essential oils for every 1 ounce of carrier oil stored in a glass bottle.
